It has been our vision from the start to bring an active event to our community where we live, work play and give back! To provide the most meaningful impact possible, The North Texas Community Giving Foundation, in partnership with The Tug McGraw Foundation, started the first endurance event for the City of Frisco!
The North Texas Community Giving Foundation (NTCGF) was born from a few individuals who wanted to make a positive impact in their community. NTCGF is dedicated to making an impact in North Texas by supporting local nonprofit organizations who align with our vision of improving the health, education, and welfare of our community. As a result of last year’s Texas Big Star Half Marathon & 5k, NTCGF provided (1) $20,000 in grants to 10 charitable organizations, (2) $37,500 to TMF to further its mission, and (3) an avenue for 5 charity partners to raise approximately $5,000 for their organizations.
The Tug McGraw Foundation (TMF) was established by Tug McGraw in 2003 to raise funds to enhance the quality of life of children and adults with brain tumors and their families by stimulating and facilitating research that addresses the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual impact of the disease. Recognizing that other areas of brain research – such as traumatic brain injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder – inform the science surrounding brain cancer, TMF has widened its scope to include a broader spectrum of the neuroscience to support advances in medical care and quality of life for our nation’s battle-wounded, ill and injured service members.
