Race Postponed to November 14, 2020

 

We are grateful for your support of the Texas Big Star Half Marathon & 5K and its commitment to fundraising for the North Texas Community Giving Foundation and the numerous charitable causes supported by the Foundation’s
annual grants.

After extensive discussions with City of Frisco officials, health officials, and recommendations from the CDC, the Texas Big Star Half Marathon & 5K team has decided to postpone the April 18, 2020 Half Marathon, 5K, and 1-mile races to Saturday, November 14, 2020.

We are grateful to the City of Frisco and our vendors for being so flexible and ensuring we can still race in 2020. Please to continue to be safe during these trying times and we look forward to seeing you in November.

In moving forward, below are some questions and answers that may help clarify next steps:

  • Are all races postponed?
    • The 1-mile, 5K, and Half Marathon distances have been postponed to Saturday, November 14, 2020.
  • If I am able to run on November 14 do I need to do anything with my registration?
    • No. Your registration will automatically be transferred to the November 14 race.
  • What if I am not able to run on November 14?
    • You have two options, both of which you must select by April 18, 2020.
      • OPTION 1: If you are unable to run on November 14, you may choose to participate in a virtual run. The virtual run option will allow you to receive your t-shirt, bib, and medal. We intend to send out these items within a week after November 14. While we operate on the honor system, our expectation is that within 30 days of November 14, you will run your race distance. We encourage you to share your virtual run photos and experiences on our social channels. You can find us at @TXBigStarRace and tag photos #RunBigStarVirtual.
      • OPTION 2: If you are unable to run on November 14, you may choose to defer your registration to our 2021 race. We do not currently have a date secured, but we are anticipating returning to April.
    • To select either option you must go to your registration email and select “change category”. Then select either the virtual run or deferral option. These options are only available until April 18.
  • All transfer fees will be waived through 4/18.
    • You are able to move from the Half or 5K to Virtual or Defer for no fee until 4/18. Additionally, if you would like to move from the Half to the 5K, you may transfer at no additional cost. After 4/18, standard
      transfer fees will apply.
  • Registration Fee Details:
    • As noted during the registration process, the registration fee is non-refundable. This policy is as a result of two main factors:
      • First, all event-related costs have been incurred and paid to our many vendors.  As you can imagine with a race of this size and scale, the planning process is extensive and most items must be secured well in advance.  Of note, the registration fees do not even cover all the costs of the race.
      • Secondly, the race is a non-profit fundraiser with proceeds, if any, from the race going to local charities. We encourage you to visit the race website for information about the charities and critical causes supported by the funds from this race.
